Another Reminder Of Upcoming Emerald Ash Borer Meeting

June 06, 2022 Steve Schwaller

(Wahpeton)– Another reminder of that public informational meeting on emerald ash borer. It’s being put on by Iowa State University Extension and Outreach and will be held at 6:00 pm Wednesday, June 15th at Mahan Hall at Lakeside Lab, on the west side of West Lake Okoboji.

The presence of emerald ash borer has been confirmed in a number of counties in northwest Iowa and was recently discovered in Dickinson county. Sue Boettcher of the Dickinson County Extension Office says the June 15th meeting will feature several keynote speakers…

“Mike Kitner, he’s with the Iowa Department of Ag and Land Stewardship. He’s an entomologist and emerald ash borer coordinator; Doctor Donald Lewis is a profession extension entomologist at Iowa State University; and Amber Geigo is a forestry specialist with Iowa Department of Natural Resources. All going to be talking about what to look for and what you can do. There are some things you can do but you’ve got some decisions to make about what to do about those ash trees.”

The session is free to attend, but pre-registration is requested due to limited seating. You can sign up by calling 336-3488.
