Another Former Armstrong City Official Pleads Guilty To Charges

April 04, 2024 Steve Schwaller

(Armstrong)– A third former Armstrong city official has pleaded guilty to charges in connection with an investigation into alleged wrongdoings.

Connie Thackery was originally charged with second and third theft in addition to ongoing criminal conduct and nonfelonious misconduct in 2021. The charges stemmed from an investigation by the state of Iowa into various financial matters involving the city. Thackery entered the written plea in March as part of a plea deal. She’s due back in court for sentencing on May 2nd.

The city’s former Mayor and police chief are still scheduled to go on trial later this year. Those trials will be held in Clay county after a judge granted a change in venue.
