(Estherville)– There’s another vacancy on the Estherville City Council. Ann Goebel, who represents Ward 4, has resigned from her seat effective November 1st. The city council is expected to discuss the vacancy and possible options at their meeting this (Mon.) evening.
In a memo to council members and the Mayor, City Administrator Penny Clayton says that due to the election this Tuesday, she is recommending the council appoint whoever gets elected for the Ward 4 seat, which is on the ballot, fill the balance of Goebel’s term through the end of the year. That person would then begin a full term effective January 1st. Clayton adds final action could be taken at the council’s November 17th meeting.
There’s already one vacancy on the council. Longtime councilman Dave Seylar resigned from his Ward 3 seat this past August after moving to another area of the city. The council opted not to fill that position in the interim due to the proximity of the election.
The Estherville City Council convenes at 5:00 pm today (Mon.) at city offices in downtown Estherville.
