(Spencer)-There’s an urgent need for food and other supplies at area animal shelters. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
Animal Shelters in Northwest Iowa are seeking donations of food and supplies due to the devastating flooding in the region.
Jenna Schrorer, Executive Director with People for Pets says, they are in need of cat and dog food as well as cat litter. “Food for both dogs and cats, cat litter, maybe some wet dog and cat food for these animals. Obviously they’re pretty nervous and uncomfortable, so the wet food kind of gets them going. It’s like a little appetite stimulant for them. You can bring the stuff here to the shelter. It’s 2312 Highway Boulevard here in Spencer. It’s right off Highway 71. If we have extra food or anything we will bring it to the locations that are helping us, as well, because our shelter was full before all of this happened, and then, obviously, now we are just overflowing.”
She adds that there is also a need for foster families. “If anybody’s able to take a cat or two that would be great. Dogs, we’re ok, but cats are what we would be struggling with.”
Donations may be dropped off at People for Pets in North Spencer or at your area shelter.
