(Fostoria)—An Alta man was killed Saturday while unloading hay bales from a truck.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called shortly before 2:00 p.m. Saturday to 2905 180th Avenue near Fostoria where 49-year-old Jerrold Goodman of Alta was found unresponsive.
Upon investigating, deputies determined Goodman had been unloading a semi trailer of hay bales when several bales fell on top of him, resulting in fatal injuries.
The 1999 Peterbilt semi-tractor trailer is owned by Magnussen Brothers, Incorporated of Newell. Authorities say Goodman had also been driving the semi.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by Fostoria Fire and Rescue, the Spencer ambulance and the Clay County Medical Examiner’s Office.
