(Spirit Lake)– An investigation by Spirit Lake police into the alleged sexual abuse of a minor child has landed two people in jail.
Based on interviews and an investigation, police say 43-year-old Eduardo Artimo Rodriquez Lopez of Spirit Lake was arrested and charged with kidnapping in the first degree…a class “A” felony, and sexual abuse in the second degree…a class “B” felony.
Also arrested and charged in the investigation was 31-year-old Cindy Schoenwetter of Spirit Lake. She was charged with child endangerment…a class “D” felony.
Lopez and Schoenwetter were both booked into the Dickinson county jail.
Spirit Lake police and the Iowa Department of Human Services are continuing their investigation into the case. They say additional charges may be forthcoming.
The arrests were made Thursday.
