(Spencer)– A Melvin man faces charges as the result of an incident early Friday at the Clay county jail.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says 29-year-old Nicholas Klatt of Melvin was in jail after he was arrested the previous evening by the Spencer Police Department.
Klatt is accused of damaging part of a jail cell. He was charged with criminal mischief in the fifth degree…a simple misdemeanor.
A deputy was then sent to assist jail staff in restraining Klatt. The deputy was hit with some urine-soaked toilet paper allegedly thrown by Klatt.
Klatt was then charged with assault on a peace officer using bodily fluids…a class “D” felony.
