(Algona)– An Algona woman has announced her candidacy for Iowa State Senate District 5. Stacy Besch will run as a Republican and will go up against incumbent Dave Rowley of Spirit Lake in the June 2nd, 2026 Primary Election.
Besch says her main priorities are on preserving freedom, human trafficking awareness, tax reform and eminent domain risks, as well as making “healthcare decisions free from government overreach”, along with protecting the Second Amendment.
Besch has served on many boards over the years, has managed five businesses and has been a continuing education instructor for the past 25 years for many colleges across Iowa.
Iowa Senate District 5 includes Dickinson, Emmet, Kossuth, Palo Alto and Winnebago counties along with northeastern Clay county.
