Algona Man Faces Federal Meth Charge

(Sioux City)—An Algona man faces a federal meth charge.

A complaint filed March 18th in U.S. District Court charges 31-year-old Ryan Hansen with conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine. The complaint alleges that from about 2012 through March 2013 Hansen conspired to distribute methamphetamine in the Algona area.

If convicted he faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years’ imprisonment and possible maximum of life imprisonment along with a $10 million fine and supervised release from five years to life following any imprisonment.

Hansen appeared in U.S. District Court in Sioux City on March 18th and remains held without bond.

The case was investigated by the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office.
