Ag Producers, Rural Businesses Urged To Apply For Renewable Energy Systems Funding Program

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– Officials with the Iowa Lakes Resource Conservation and Development office are reminding area ag producers and small businesses in rural areas of a program that offers grants, guaranteed loans and a combination of the two.

The Rural Energy for America Program provides funds that can be used to purchase and install renewable energy systems and to make energy efficiency improvements.

Grants are also available to eligible entities to conduct and promote energy audits and provide recommendations and information on how to improve the energy efficiency of the operations of agricultural producers and rural small businesses and to use renewable energy technologies and resources in the operations.

More information and grant writing assistance is available by contacting the Iowa USDA RD State Office at (515) 284-4714; or Sheriffa Jones with the local Iowa Lakes R C& D office in Spencer at (712) 262-2083.
