(Okoboji)– Some additional paver work will be taking place this summer along a portion of Highway 71 in Okoboji.
Pavers were installed along several locations of the roadway as part of the recent Highway 71 project, with sod put in along other portions, including in front of city hall at the intersection with Stakeout Road. City officials say most of the sodded areas are getting driven on and have ruts in them. They say there’s 21 locations where that’s happened. The City Council Tuesday voted to install pavers in those areas as well at a cost of $101,000.
The city had also received quotes to install concrete in those areas at a cost of $84,000 but opted to go with the pavers, saying they would be easier to maintain and would be consistent with the other areas where the pavers are already present.
