Accidental Shooting Injures Spencer Man

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– A Spencer man has been charged after injuring himself in an accidental shooting.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says it was called around 12:45 p.m. Monday to a report of an accidental gunshot by an employee at Nolin Milling in Dickens.

Upon investigating, deputies learned 25-year-old Adam Costilla of Spencer was in the bathroom when he reportedly lost his balance while adjusting a .357 magnum revolver in his pocket, causing the gun to fire. Costilla sustained minor injuries to his upper leg and a gunshot wound to his foot. He was transported to Spencer Hospital.

Costilla was charged with discharging a firearm in city limits.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office office was assisted on the scene by Spencer Hospital and Dickens Rescue.
