(Spirit Lake)– If early and absentee voting is any indication, there’s a lot of interest out there in city and school elections in Dickinson county. Jordan Moyer of the Dickinson County Auditor’s Office tells KUOO news the numbers of those who have already voted continued to climb as of Tuesday…
“It’s been really good. The office has been steady. We actually have over 550 people absentee vote. That’s about 70 people requesting by mail, otherwise that’s everybody else trickling into the office to absentee vote before election day.”
She says that surpasses the previous election…
“We actually had less than 300 people that absentee voted back in the 2021 city/school election, so we’re seeing a rise in numbers in our office, you know, especially with folks going south for the winter wanting to vote because they’re going to be gone before election day, as well as the contested races that we’ve got going on in the county.”
Moyer says absentee voting continues through this coming Monday, November 6th, with the election itself the next day, November 7th…
“Polls are open from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm. We’ve got the five voting locations. You can go on to the Secretary of State’s website and you can check to see where you go to vote. I know we had some changes this last time in ’22 from the re-districting and re-precincting that we had, so just make sure where you vote. You can call our office as well.”
Moyer reminds everyone to be sure to have a form of I.D with you when you vote…
“Make sure that you have your driver’s license. If you’re already registered to vote and your address does not match, that’s okay. We just need to make sure that we see who you are. But if you are a new register, you need to make sure that you have proof of identity and proof of residency. And if you are already in the county registered but you’re changing your address, just make sure to bring just a form of residency so that we can see that you had a change, especially if you’re switching precincts.”
Again the polls election day will be open from 7:00 am until 8:00 pm.
