(Storm Lake)– Stalcup Agricultural Services of Storm Lake has expanded its footprint in Iowa with the acquisition of Midstates Farm Management from Midstates Bank in Council Bluffs. The deal, effective January 1st, adds more than 11,000 acres across 53 farms in 11 counties of West Central and Southwest Iowa. The acquisition brings Stalcup’s management portfolio to over 120,000 acres, alongside its real estate and appraisal services in Iowa, South Dakota, and Nebraska. Stalcup Partner Dennis Reyman says the move strengthens Stalcup’s reach south of Interstate 80…
“We always considered Interstate 80 to be kind of the south side of our management territory and this will expand a greater presence into that territory and then on a little further south across all of southwest Iowa. We’re going to gain a bigger territory for our business and gain an experienced farm manager, so I think it will give him more resources to work with and just improve our presence in western Iowa.”
With the expansion, Stalcup will open a branch location in Avoca, Iowa. Looking ahead, Reyman says generational turnover in land ownership will continue to drive demand for professional farm management and appraisal services. He calls the addition of 11,000 acres a significant milestone…
“You don’t get to pick up that much every day or every year, for sure. It’s a nice addition. We would have had to have worked a number of years to gain that much just organically, so yeah, we’re happy to have it.”
Stalcup Agricultural Services, founded in Storm Lake in 1942, now manages more than 120,000 acres across Iowa, South Dakota, and Nebraska.
