(Spencer)– A local hospice program has received special recognition for its work with veterans. Avera@Home Hospice of Spencer Hospital has earned a level 4 Star designation in the national We Honor Veterans program for providing high-quality, veteran-centered hospice care. We Honor Veterans is a collaboration between the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization and the Department of Veterans Affairs. The program recognizes hospice organizations demonstrating increasing levels of commitment and expertise in caring for veterans at the end of life. Alana Clark, Director of Hospice and Home Health at Spencer Hospital, says they are honored to receive the designation…
“This recognition reflects our unwavering commitment to honoring those who have served our country. I am so incredibly proud of our staff for achieving the level 4 status but even more proud of the compassionate, respectful and personalized care they provide to our veterans during this important stage of their life jury. Our veterans deserve the very best.”
Clark thanks Chelsea Reed of Spencer Hospital for working closely with the VA to help receive the designation…
“Chelsea’s dedication has been instrumental in reaching this level. Her commitment, persistence and advocacy for our veteran patients has strengthened our partnerships with the V-A and elevated the care we provide every day.”
Clark says for veterans, the recognition means access to hospice care that acknowledges military service, understands the unique physical, emotional and spiritual needs that may accompany that service, and honors each veteran’s goals and preferences at the end of life.
