(Estherville)– A former police officer in Estherville and Armstrong has pleaded guilty as part of a plea deal in a case that contained more than 80 charges against him.
Benjamin Scheevel was facing 85 counts consisting of perjury, stalking, unauthorized dissemination of intelligence history data, nonfelonious misconduct, ongoing criminal conduct, tax evasion, second degree theft and assault while displaying a dangerous weapon. Court documents say the incidents allegedly occurred between January, 2016 and April, 2019.
Terms of the plea agreement call for all but seven counts of unauthorized access or dissemination of data being dropped.
Sentencing is set for November 27th in Emmet County District Court.
