A Familiar Face Is Returning To The Estherville City Council

December 16, 2025

(Estherville)– The Estherville City Council voted unanimously Monday evening to appoint Dave Seylar to fill the ward 1 seat left vacant after Tony Condon, who held the seat previously, was elected Mayor in November.

Seylar served previously on the city council, representing a different ward. He recently resigned after moving out of that ward and into ward 1. He’ll serve out the remaining term of the ward 1 seat. No one else expressed interest in filling the vacancy.

City Administrator Penny Clayton reminded the council any resident opposed to the appointment has 14 days in which to submit a petition calling for a special election.
