(Okoboji)– A contemporary comedy will take the stage this week at the Okoboji Summer Theatre. The curtain goes up Tuesday evening on Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike. Director Jim Bray says it was the 2013 Tony Award winner for Best New Play…
“I would say that the plot is a little light, but it’s very deep and very layered in terms of what we learn about these three siblings, about rivalries, about resentment, lost hope, and it’s a very funny look at the human condition and how we relate to the people in our family and what we can learn from them. And I think it ends in a beautiful, nice, hopeful way. So I think people are going to be really excited to see something so contemporary on the Okoboji stage. It’s not quite a farce but it does have that feel of sort of a sitcom. So it’s just a lovely, lovely written play and the actors are fantastic as well as our crew and staff.”
Emma Schell, Public Relations Director for OST, says a new production also opens this week on the stage at the Boji Bantam Children’s Theatre…
“This week we have Charlie The No Good Really Rotten Cheatasaurus Rex. We have our fantastic Director, Madison Dodd doing this one as well. We have our three Stephens alumna who will be joining the cast again along with three locals who many people will recognize and love. This one will be a, you are journeying back in time with Charlie Cheatasaurus Rex, the young dinosaur who would rather play video games than studying for his scales and tails exam, and you can imagine where things go from there. It’s a delightful show. Kids are going to absolutely love it.”
