A Catholic School In Sheldon Is Closing For Good

March 09, 2026

(Sheldon)– A Catholic school in Sheldon will close permanently after the current school year.

A release from the Diocese of Sioux City says the closure of St. Patrick’s Catholic School is the result of decreasing enrollment and other factors no longer making it feasible to keep the school open. 42 students are enrolled in the Pre-K to 8th grade school this school year.

St. Patrick’s Catholic School has been in existence some 70 years, serving the Sheldon, Ashton and Sibley areas.
