Black Hills Energy, Northwestern Energy Group Announce Merger Plans

(Rapid City, S.D.)– Two utility providers are combining forces.

Black Hills Energy, based in Rapid City, South Dakota, and Northwestern Energy Group, Incorporated based out of Butte, Montana, are merging. The transaction is expected to close in 12 to 15 months, depending upon regulatory approval and that of utility commissions in the state’s served by the companies. The combined company will have a new name and will be headquartered in Rapid City, South Dakota.

Black Hills Energy provides natural gas service to numerous communities throughout northwest Iowa.
