November 22, 2014

(Lakota)– Authorities say 65 pounds of marijuana with a street value of nearly 160-thousand dollars has been found on a rail car at an ethanol plant near Lakota.

The Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office says 13 bundles of pot were discovered Tuesday at the grain cars at the Global Ethanol Plant were being inspected.

Sheriff Steve Kollasch says a suspicious black plastic bundle was hidden in the hollow metal frame of the grain car. A deputy then pulled out more bundles, each weighing about five pounds.

Authorities say the grain cars came to Iowa from Mexico. The investigation continues.
