4 SLHS Students Selected For All-State Music Festival

(Spirit Lake)– Four Spirit Lake High School students have attained the highest
individual honor available to Iowa High School musicians by being selected as members
of the 2011 All-State Music Festival Groups.

Chosen for the All-State Chorus are senior Lexi Plumb, daughter of Paul and Shelley Plumb, junior- Jaime Webb, daughter of James and Kari Webb, and junior Will Norris- son of Clay and Kathy Norris.

Chosen for the All-State Orchestra is senior Alex Lende on bass trombone, son of Steven and Lona Lende.

Selected for the All-State Band as first alternate is Lauren Shell on
baritone saxophone and as 2nd alternate is Conner Rowley on trombone.

Spirit Lake
had 13 vocalists and 6 instrumentalists audition.

Auditions were held this past Saturday, October 22 at Storm Lake.

The students accepted represent 1.5 percent of Iowa high school musicians.

Participants will
rehearse on the Iowa State University campus for two days and present the festival
concert on Saturday, November 19, 7:30 PM in Hilton Coliseum, Ames. Iowa Public
Television will record the concert for re-broadcast on Thursday, November 24 at 7:00
PM and again on Sunday, November 27 at 5:30 PM.

The All-State Music Festival is
under the auspices of the Iowa High School Music Association and the Iowa Music
Educators Association.
