(Spencer)– A three-vehicle collision Thursday at the intersection of Clay county roads B-24 and M-50 resulted in minor injuries to two people.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says it involved vehicles driven by 57-year-old David Nelson, 47-year-old Albert Laboranti and 47-year-old Sandra Burnell…all of Spencer.
Authorities say Burnell had stopped for a stop sign and was facing west waiting to cross County Road M-50. Laboranti was stopped behind Burnell, also waiting at the stop sign. Deputies say Nelson, who was westbound on B-24, was approaching the stopped vehicles when he was distracted and misjudged the distance between the vehicles. He then collided with the one driven by Laboranti. The impact pushed Laboranti’s vehicle into the rear of the one being driven by Burnell.
Burnell and Laboranti were both taken to Spencer Hospital to be checked over for minor injuries. No injuries were reported to Nelson who was cited for following too close.
Minor damage was reported to a Mercury Mountaineer driven by Nelson, to a 2002 Lexus driven by Laboranti and to a 2008 Malibu driven by Burnell.
The collision took place around Noon.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by Spencer Fire and Rescue and the Spencer Hospital ambulance and paramedics.
