Sibley Man Arrested On Multiple Charges

August 24, 2024 Steve Schwaller

(Sibley)– A Sibley man has been arrested on burglary, indecent exposure, and other charges. A criminal complaint filed by the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office accuses 28-year-old Tristan Roetzel of stealing a car in somewhat of an unusual way August 16th.

A deputy says Roetzel rode a small electric scooter to the victim’s place, which he dropped near the roadway in the ditch before walking toward the garage. The car owner’s son was in the garage at the time and went into the house to tell his mother that someone was walking up the driveway. When the son and his mother returned back outside, Roetzel was allegedly inside the car backing it out of the garage. The deputy says Roetzel stopped the car outside the garage, took off his clothes, and got back into the car and left the property eastbound on Highway 9. The deputy says he was at the home investigating the incident when the sheriff’s office received a call from a citizen at Kwik Star in Sibley saying there was a naked man in a silver Camaro. Another Osceola County Deputy was able to locate and stop the vehicle. The deputy writing the report says that when he got there the other deputy was speaking with Roetzel, who was still inside the car since he was naked. The deputies arrested Roetzel. After the victim returned home with the car, the deputy says he noticed a stress fracture in the windshield as well as some damage under the car and mud packed in the undercarriage.

Roetzel was charged with second-degree burglary, a class C felony and second-degree criminal mischief, a class D felony. If convicted, of a class C felony, he could face up to ten years in prison, and five years for a class D felony. He also faces misdemeanor charges of operating a vehicle without owner’s consent and indecent exposure.

Roetzel was being held in the Osceola County Jail in Sibley in lieu of a $10,000 cash or surety bond.
