(Spencer)– This year’s Clay County Fair will once again offer a wide variety of grandstand entertainment. Fair General Manager Jason Brockshus gives us a rundown…
“The first night we’re going to open with Oliver Anthony, kind of an iconic musician, some political themes and vibes, a little banjo type iconic country stuff. He’s going to open up. Then on Sunday night we’ll have Jeff Dunham. He has a new comedy tour out, introducing new characters. He’ll be great. So if you’ve seen him before come see him here because he has a new British accent character, I hear. Monday night will be our Veteran’s Day and that’s going to be Home Free, an acapella group which has been in the Events Center Arena in the past and the area has really liked them. And then Tuesday night rounding out our music in the grandstands will be the Roots ‘n Boots Tour: Sammy Kershaw, Aaron Tippin, Collin Raye. ’90’s country iconic stuff.”
Brockshus says there will also be a variety of music entertainment in the Coke Hospitality Tent following some of the grandstand events…
“The first Saturday night we’re going to have She’s With Us, a local band. You’ve probably heard them if you’ve been up at the lakes. Pop music, more current stuff. They put their own spin on it. Alesha Toft heads that up and has an amazing voice. So She’s With Us will be there the first Saturday night after the Oliver Anthony concert. On Wednesday we won’t have a grandstand act but if you want your music come on out and see Eli Alger and The Faster Horses. You probably remember him from opening for Trace Adkins last year at the fair, and it really pulled at his heart strings all the devastation that happened in Spencer last year with the floods and he really headed up that Faster Horses Flood Relief Festival. So he’s going to come back and play before the Bulls and Broncs on Wednesday as well as after, so if you want your rodeo action, want some country music that night, that’s definitely a time to come out. And then the final Saturday we’re going to have a band after the Monster Truck Show, Capital Sons. It’s kind a grunge rock, punk rock Minneapolis-based band.”
Brockshus says the Clay County Fair has also been working with the Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association for a full day of activities on Thursday, September 11th…
“We’re going to have an Iowa Music Day on the grounds Thursday, so there’s going to be some educational things happening in the ballroom for kids of all ages during the day, but then that evening they’re going to put a couple of bands on the Northwest Bank Stage to do a set from 7:00 until 10:00.”
The 2025 Clay County Fair Powered by SMU runs September 6th-14th.
