(Okoboji)-It’s time for the annual Artisans Road Trip. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
The Artisans Road Trip will be held in Northwest Iowa this weekend.
Pearson Lakes Art Center Visual Arts Director Danielle Clouse Gast says, the annual event is a self-guided tour. “The tour actually has been happening for a number of years, probably close to 20 years, and it’s a tour that was set up by artists for artists. The last couple of years the Art Center has taken it on and organized it, and it’s a self-guided tour that somebody could hop in a car, make their own itinerary and visit the different studios anywhere from Storm Lake to Linn Grove through Spencer to The Iowa Great Lakes and over to Lake Park. There are 19 artists on the tour this year.”
She adds that it’s a way to meet the artists behind the work. “You get to meet the maker, the person behind the art work that’s making it, and also on the other side of things for the artists, it’s a great chance for them to get to meet those who enjoy what they do.”
She notes that several of the artists will be exhibiting at Pearson Lakes Art Center. “We will have 7 artists here at the Art Center in our 2 galleries, and it’s variety of media. We have painters, we have fiber artists, jewelers, and then also, in addition to the artists that are here for Artisans Road Trip, we have our galleries open, too. So, there’s truly lots to see at the Art Center as this is one of the stops.”
The Artisans Road Trip will run Saturday 9-5 and Sunday noon to 5.
