2022 Clay County Fair Powered By SMU To Feature “Fair To Fork Market”

August 02, 2022 Steve Schwaller

(Spencer)– This year’s Clay County Fair powered by SMU will feature something new. Fair Manager Jeremy Parsons says you’ll be able to purchase locally grown food products at the all new “Fair to Fork Market”…

“Fair to Fork Market is going to be located in the former Art Barn, so just south of the Outdoor Arena, and again it’s just going to feature vendors, you know, selling fresh produce, locally produced food. Those vendors are going to switch out every day, so something new every day. And then also some educational information provided by the Iowa Food and Family Project. Again, just making people aware of the fact that much of the food they eat can be really purchased and really produced local.”

Parsons adds they’re in the process of signing up vendors…

“Just call the fair office 712-580-3000 to receive more information. Again, not expected to be here all nine days of the fair but you must also be selling locally produced food, so fresh produce and things like that.”

And with the fair now just a little more than a month away, Parsons says final preparations are kicking into high gear…

“Things are coming together really well and it’s going to be an exciting fair. Obviously every year new attractions and new things are at the fair and of course we’re announcing those it seems like almost every day. But get to Clay County Fair-dot-com to plan that fair visit. Those fair brochures will be out here in the next few days and of course a couple of days before the fair you’ll be able to get the daily guides and plan that fair trip minute-by-minute.”

Parsons notes fairgoers will notice a few things that are being moved to new locations on the grounds…

“As I mentioned the Fair to Fork Market is in the former Art Barn which means the Art Barn activities by Arts on Grand are moving into the Photography Center, which means the Iowa Great Lakes Auto Club Show is moving into the Grandstand Annex. So always shuffles here at the fair, kind of moving some things around and lots of new improvements I think fairgoers will notice this year new street paving by the stables, water hookups in our north campgrounds, just a lot of improvements as well for people to see.”

The 2022 Clay County Fair Powered by SMU is coming up September 10th through the 18th.
