(Okoboji)-The Artisans Road Trip will be held this weekend. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
The 2022 Artisans Road Trip will take place October 1-2 in Northwest Iowa.
Coordinated by Pearson Lakes Art Center, Visual Arts Director Danielle Clouse Gast says, the self-guided studio tour will feature a number of artists in several counties. “Artisans Road Trip has actually been in existence over 15 years, and it was organized by artists for artists to show their studio work and what they’re doing in their studio and their spaces. Our local galleries, too, will host artists, so them we check out the galleries and the area artists that are doing the work. It’s really a spotlight artists and makers that are here in Northwest Iowa and the great things that are happening here in Northwest Iowa in the arts.”
She adds that participants can take the tour at their own pace. “When you take the Artisans Road Trip Tour, you have two days to take it, so Saturday and Sunday, but you kind of build your own itinerary and decide who you’re going to visit during the day, because this tour stretches all the way from Lake Park, through The Iowa Great Lakes region to Spencer, Storm Lake, Linn Grove, Laurens and Holstein, Iowa. So, you really can make your own tour, stop at some of these studios, spend as long as you’d like and see the next location, and with that, you get to see a variety of media and kind of pick who you want to go check out.”
