(Wahpeton)– Outdoor enthusiasts will be able to usher in the new year with a hike at several state parks in Iowa, including Gull Point in Wahpeton.
The First Day Hike offers participants an opportunity to enjoy the outdoors and the quiet beauty of nature in winter. The hike will begin at 10:00 am and will take place on the non-paved Barney Peterson Memorial Interpretive Trail that hosts tallgrass prairie, a scenic overlook, wildlife and multiple species of trees and shrubs.
Participants should dress for the weather. The event is free of charge. The hike will be self-guided. Informational brochures will be available at the kiosk.
