10 Area Attorneys Apply For Judgeship Vacancy

(Sioux City)—The Judicial Nominating Commission for the 3A Judicial Sub-District has received 10 applications for the judgeship created by the retirement of Judge John P. Duffy.

Attorneys applying for the position are Doug Hansen of Armstrong; Peter Hart of Emmetsburg; Todd Holmes of Algona; Fran Honrath of Larchwood; Jon Martin of Lake Park; Lisa Mazurek of Cherokee; Rosalise Olson of Spirit Lake; Carl Petersen of Lester; Kristal Phillips of Cherokee and Andrew Smith of Arnolds Park.

Each applicant will have an opportunity to appear before the entire commission for a personal interview at the Clay county courthouse in Spencer August 8th. Interviews will begin at 9:00 a.m. and will be open to the public.

After the interview process is completed, the commission will submit the names of two nominees to Governor Branstad, who will have 30 days to make an appointment.

Judicial Sub-District 3A consists of Buena Vista, Cherokee, Clay, Dickinson, Emmet, Kossuth, Lyon, O’Brien, Osceola and Palo Alto counties.
