When school is out, nature is in at the Dickinson County Nature Center. Families are invited to
sign up their children in kindergarten through eighth-grade for No School Day Camp – ‘School’s
Out, Nature’s In’ occurring on Monday, January 19, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Campers will spend the day exploring winter through hands-on activities, outdoor play, and
creative projects led by Miss Danika and Miss Ashley. Participants will be divided into two age
groups so each child can enjoy age-appropriate experiences.
Younger campers will experiment with snow painting, create their own bird feeders, make
snowflakes, and explore patterns in tree bark. They will also head outside for snowshoeing or a
winter hike and work together finding natural items to create a collage.
Older campers will enjoy snowshoeing or hiking, marshmallow games, and close encounters
with live animals. They will explore how to make a snowstorm in a jar, go on a nature
observation walk, and express creativity through nature art and rock painting.
The camp is open to students in kindergarten through eighth grade. The cost is $15 per child,
which includes 2 snacks. Campers are required to bring a sack lunch and a water bottle.
Space is limited and advance registration is required to attend. To register, visit
www.dickinsoncountyconservationboard.com and click the Program/Events tab to find the
event list. Registration deadline is 5 PM on January 15th. Find other monthly events online for
all ages to enjoy!
