Horseshoe Bend Tubing Hill OPEN
December 06, 2025
1924 – 240th Street, Milford IA
The recent snow in the region has finally made suitable…
This GivingTuesday, on December 2nd, the Dickinson County Nature Center invites
the community to come together and help bring the conceptual plans of the Nature Playscape to life!
Since its opening in 2014, the existing natural playground has been loved and enjoyed for many years,
but it’s time to bring new life to the imaginative outdoor play area.
Plans have been designed for the project, with the hope of construction beginning in 2026 to
upgrade the space and continue the all-natural concept, allowing children and families to climb, dig,
swing, and explore.
Generous donors have pledged a $500,000 match to encourage local donations towards the
project. Currently, 32% of the funds have been raised for the match, thanks to our generous community.
With continued community involvement, the Nature Center aims to make significant progress toward
breaking ground in 2026.
GivingTuesday is a national day of giving, but it doesn’t have to be limited to just one day.
“We want to build the Nature Playscape together with the members of our community,” said
Amy Heibult, community relations coordinator of the Dickinson County Conservation Board. “Every
single contribution moves the project closer to coming to life for families to explore and connect.”
You can donate by sending your gift to the Conservation Foundation of Dickinson County (CFDC),
a 501(c)(3) organization that supports the Nature Center, via mail to 22785 Nature Center Road,
Okoboji, IA 51355. Gifts can also be dropped off at the Nature Center or given online at our website,
www.dickinsoncountyconservationboard.com/donate. All donations are tax-deductible and will be used
towards the construction of the playscape.
