(Spencer)– COA Accreditation, a service of Social Current, is an objective, independent, and reliable validation of an agency’s performance. Dan Ries, President and CEO of Seasons Center for Behavioral Health explains what this means for their organization…
“COA accreditation really just means our agencies receive the national seal of approval for how we operate and provide services in northwest Iowa. We went through an independent review where they look at all of our services. So everything from how we deliver care, how we recruit our employees to how we manage the agency and communicate with the public. And so for the people that we serve, it lets them know that they can trust the care that we’re providing them meets nationally recognized standards for quality and accountability. And then for the community, you know, it lets them know that we’re committed to always trying to improve and make sure we’re doing things the right way and not just trying to meet the minimum requirements.”
Ries says it took a lot of hard work to receive this accreditation…
“So when we spent months and months, you know, creating policies, updating policies, improving workloads, things like that to make sure we’re meeting all of the standards. There’s over six hundred standards that we had to provide evidence for and show that we meet these standards. And so it definitely was a lot of work, you know, for us. It helps with some of the local licensing and things like that. So we’re licensed by the state of Iowa because we have this national accreditation and makes that process a little simpler. We don’t have to go through as much of a process with them because we’ve done that, you know, with national standards. And so it helps with that. And it just really just shows our commitment to wanting to make sure that we’re providing the best care that we can.”
