(Spirit Lake)– The city of Spirit Lake has received a clean financial bill of health.
The city council Tuesday was presented with a report on the audit of the city’s books for the fiscal year that ended June 30th.
It shows the city’s receipts totaled 14.3 million dollars. Of that, 2.1 million was in the form of property and other city taxes; 2.3 million was in tax increment financing receipts; 2.8 million came from charges for service; $525,000 from operating grants, contributions and restricted interest; $32,500 from unrestricted investment earnings; nearly $66,000 came from other general receipts and 5.6 million was in bond proceeds.
Disbursements totaled 11.2 million dollars. Of that, $926,000 was for public works; a little over a million went to public safety; $568,000 to culture and recreation; $485,000 was for general government; $43,000 for community and economic development; 4.4 million went toward debt service and 3.7 million for capital projects. Disbursements for business type activities totaled slightly more than 3.2 million.
