(Des Moines)– State Auditor David Vaudt has released an audit report on Dickinson county for the fiscal year ended June 30th, 2010.
The report shows the county had total revenue of $43.8 million which included $607,000 in tax credits from the state. The county forwarded slightly more than $36.5 million of local tax revenue to townships, school districts, cities and other taxing bodies. The county retained $7.2 million of local tax revenue to finance its operations…an 8.3 percent increase over the prior year. Other revenues included charges for service of $1.68 million; operating grants, contributions and restricted interested of $4.1 million; capital grants, contributions and restricted interest of $945,000; tax increment financing of $283,000; nearly $977,000 in local option sales tax proceeds; nearly $51,000 in hotel/motel tax receipts; unrestricted investment earnings of slightly more than $306,000 and other general revenues of a little more than $116,000.
Expenses for county operations totaled slightly more than $12.8 million…a 1.8 percent decrease from the prior year. Expenses included a little more than $3 million for roads and transportation; $2.1 million for public safety and legal services; and slightly more than $2 million for administration.
