(Spirit Lake)– The State Auditor today (Tues.) released an audit report on Dickinson county’s finances for the fiscal year that ended June 30th, 2011.
According to the report, the county had local tax revenue of $45.8 million dollars which included slightly more than $586,000 in tax credits from the state. Of the 45.8 million, slightly more than $38.1 million went to townships, school districts, cities and other taxing bodies in the county. The county retained slightly more than $7.66 million to finance its operations…a 6.2% increase over the prior year.
Expenses for county operations totaled nearly $13.7 million, a 13.1 percent increase over the prior year. Of that, slightly more than $4.1 million was for roads and transportation; a little more than $2 million for public safety and legal services and $2.1 million for administration.
