Wassink headed to Gustavus Adolphus
ST. PETER - Iowa Lakes Community College women's basketball player Mia Wassink has committed to continue her academic and athletic career at Gustavus Adolphus College, an NCAA Division III school.
With the Lakers, Wassink was a two-time all-Iowa Community College Athletic Conference performer. She earned ICCAC Athlete of the Week honors three times.
The Edgerton High School graduate also earned all-ICCAC academic status twice.
Wassink averaged 15.3 points and 9.1 rebounds per game. She had a total of 810 points and 553 rebounds.
"I originally chose Iowa Lakes because I had the opportunity to play collegiate basketball," Wassink commented. "I knew that I would be able to take a variety of classes that would help me determine out what major I wanted to pursue after my time at Iowa Lakes."
The Gusties are coming off an historic season that saw them finish with a 24-7 record and advance to the NCAA Division III tournament's Sweet 16.
