Vikings' season ending this week
EAGAN - The Minnesota Vikings' grind of a season to end this week.
Their failure to notch consecutive appearances in the playoffs has continued for 11 years and counting.
There are many lessons worth learning for the front office, coach Mike Zimmer and his staff and the players on a dismal defense that had a big hand in the 52-33 defeat at New Orleans on Friday.
And Tuesday, the Vikings add another veteran to their injured/reserve list.
Tight end Kyle Rudolph was placed on the injured list Tuesday due to a foot injury, ending his 10th season in the NFL. He had 28 catches for 334 yards in 12 games this season.
You can hear Xs and Os with Mike Zimmer at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday on Xtreme Country 105.7. The Vikings play at Detroit Sunday in the finale between two eliminated teams. Pregame is at 11 a.m., with kickoff at noon.
