The H-LP Wolves Kickoff the Season with a Win over North Iowa

Fri 8-26-2016

Harris-Lake Park exploded offensively at home and defeated North Iowa 55-6. If H-LP Head Coach Lane Gunderson had any questions about how his junior quarterback Bryce Perkins would handle making his first career start he put those questions to rest as he threw for 5 touchdowns and over 300 yards passing. It doesn't hurt that one of the targets Perkins has to throw to is Jordan Kyle who stands 6'4". Kyle caught three first half touchdowns and finished the night unofficially with 5 catches for 74 yards.

After the game Coach Gunderson said that his biggest takeaway was how well his defense played and why not? H-LP held North Iowa to 102 total yards in the game and 52 of those were completed in one play on the lone scoring drive of the game for the Bison a 52 yard completion from Spencer Armstrong to Austin Haisman.

Perkins and Kyle were far from the only bright spots for an offense that shined throughout the game. Trevor Gunderson finished with 137 total yards including a 28 yard touchdown catch and a 5 yard 4th quarter touchdown run. Cale Hellinga  also scored a 60 yard touchdown catch early in the 2nd half which gave the Wolves a 33-0 lead.

Up next for the H-LP Wolves a road trip to River Valley next Friday at 7:00pm.
