Sweet, Lambertz claim National titles
JACKSON - Brad Sweet and John Lambertz won titles at the 41st annual Jackson Nationals Saturday at Jackson Motorplex.
Sweet won the 35-lap World of Outlaws event, with Lambertz first in the 20-lap RaceSaver sprint car feature.
For Sweet, it was his four win in the last five World of Outlaws races, including winning Thursday’s event at Jackson. He his seven wins this season to lead the series in that category.
The win was worth $41,000.
Donny Schatz finished second, with Daryn Pittman, David Gravel and James McFadden rounding out the top five.
Schatz, Ian Madsen, Jacob Allen and Brian Brown each won a heat race.
Tim Shaffer claimed the Last Chance Showdown win. Shaffer was also the Hard Charger Award winner after maneuvering from 21st to 10th in the main event.
Lambertz held off defending Jackson Nationals champion Kaleb Johnson to win the non-stop RaceSaver sprint feature.
Filling out the top five were Dusty Ballenger, Jake Martens and Ryan Voss.
Jared Jansen and Brandon Bosma were heat winners.
The next event at Jackson Motorplex is July 12 with the Midwest Power Series and Midwest Sprint Touring Series, RaceSaver sprint cars and NSL non-wing sprint cars.
