Storm Lake Stays Undefeated With Win At Spirit Lake
Storm Lake ran past Spirit Lake for a 41-3 victory in Class 3A District 1 Football on Friday night. The Tornadoes scored first on a three yard touchdown run by Braden Hoops with 6:58 to go in the first quarter. Spirit Lake cut the lead to 7-3 thanks to a 33 yard field goal by Ben Steffens with 1:37 to go in the first quarter. In the second quarter, Lamar Mulgae ran it in from 66 yards out and Storm Lake led 14-3. The Tornadoes threatened to score late in the half but fumbled the ball into the endzone and Spirit Lake's Jac Radcliffe recovered. In the third quarter, Parker Lange had two touchdown catches of 65 yards and 57 yards to make it 27-3 after three quarters. The Tornadoes added two more touchdown runs in the fourth quarter by Josh Werge to get the final score of 41-3. Storm Lake had 502 yards of offense compared to 237 for Spirit Lake. Lange had five catches for 168 yards. Mulgae had two catches for 135 yards. Michael Demers was 12-for-20 passing for 363 yards and two touchdown passes. Storm Lake is 7-0 (5-0 District 1). They are at Spencer next week. Matthew Moody had 23 carries for 94 yards to lead Spirit Lake. Nick Christensen was 15-for-23 passing for 86 yards. The Indians fall to 5-2 (3-2 District 1).
