Storm Lake Baseball Gets 1st Conf Win Over Emmetsburg

The Storm Lake baseball team got their first win since June 9th on Thursday night in Storm Lake as they beat Emmetsburg 7-3.  Storm Lake struck first scoring 4 runs in the 3rd inning all coming with 2 outs in the inning.  An error on the E'hawks extended the inning and the Tornadoes took advantage scoring the 4 runs on 2 hits.  They would add 2 more in the 5 inning on 2 more hits and led 6-0 after 5 innings.  In the 6th, Emmetsburg trimmed the lead to 6-3 after a 3 run homerun by Greg Wesley.  Storm Lake would get 1 more in the bottom of the 6th to make it 7-3 and they would hold Emmetsburg in the 7th.

 

Emmetsburg finished with 3 runs on 8 hits.  Greg Wesley was 1-4 with 3 RBI's.  Luke Jackson, Wes Schultes and Jake Kibbie each had 2 hits for Emmetsburg.  Storm Lake with 7 runs on 6 hits.  Ron Duque was 3-4 with 2 RBI's and Jesse Wolver was 2-3 with 3 RBI's.  The winning pitcher was Blake Berry going 7 innings, allowing 3 runs (2 earned) on 8 hits with 5 strikeouts and 1 walk.  The losing pitcher was Greg Wesley going 5 2/3 innings and giving up 7 runs (2 earned) on 6 hits with 4 strikeouts and 9 walks.

 

Emmetsburg falls to 10-15, 2-11 and will travel to Spirit Lake Monday.  Storm Lake improves to 3-17, 1-12 and will travel to Spencer Monday.
