Spirit Lake Sweeps Spencer In Basketball To Start New Year
Spirit Lake raced out to an early lead over Spencer and picked up their first Lakes Conference win 64-47 over the Tigers on Tuesday night in the Fieldhouse in Spencer. The Indians led 22-4 after one and 38-13 at halftime. In the third quarter, Spencer would actually outscore Spirit Lake 25-16 to trail 54-38 going into the fourth quarter. They would get as close as 13 but could not pull off a comeback in the fourth quarter. Anna Brown scored 21 points in the first half en route to a 26 point performance. Macy Smith had 19 points while Erin Dau added 15 for the Indians, who improve to 5-3 (1-3 Lakes Conference). They play at LeMars on Friday. Hear the game on KUOO. It was 55-29 after three quarters. Nick Christensen hit seven three pointers to lead all scorers with 21 points.
