Spirit Lake Splits With Cherokee Friday Night

The Spirit Lake Indians met up with the Cherokee Braves for the second time this season, but this time the games were in Cherokee. The girls fell to Cherokee 66-44 and the boys picked up a 70-28 win.
Spirit Lake struggled and fell behind early, trailing 22-5 after the first quarter. The Braves led 38-13 at half and 49-22 after three. The Indians finally found a rhythm in the fourth quarter, doubling their point total, but it was too little, too late for Spirit Lake. Emma Dau led the Indians in the losing effort with 18 points. Cherokee's Kaely Hummel scored 24. The Indians fell to 10-4 on the season and 6-2 in the Lakes Conference.
The Indians took advantage of a hot start and began the game on a 14-0 run. Spirit Lake led 22-5 at the end of the first quarter and 46-12 at halftime. They extended the lead to 62-19 after three and 70-28 at the end. The Indians were led by Ryan Kriener with 20 point and Alec Henrickson added 14. With the win, Spirit Lake advances to 11-1 and 7-1 in the Lakes Conference. The Braves were led by Tyler Faist's 14 points.
Spirit Lake hosts Western Christian Tuesday night and the game will be carried on KUOO with coverage beginning at 6pm.
