Spirit Lake Softball Grinds Out Win Against HWC

The Spirit Lake softball team grinded out an 8-5 win over Western Christian Monday night in Lakes Conference play.  After no score thru the first three innings, Spirit Lake scored 7 runs in the 4th inning to take the lead.  In the top of the 5th inning, HWC scored 3 runs thanks to a homerun by Alyssa Buren.  In the bottom of the 5th, the Indians would score one more run to go up 8-3.  In the top of the 7th, the wolfpack put two more runs on the board, this time because of a homerun from Brooklyn Van Oort.  The wolfpack would not score any more and the Indians would get the win 8-5.


Spirit Lake with 8 runs on 5 hits.  They were led by Kali Olsen going 1-1 with a single, rbi and 3 walks.  Emily Alger was 1-3 with 2 RBI's.  Western Christian with 5 runs on 12 hits.  The Indians improve to 12-1 and 2-0 in the conference.  The Wolfpack drop to 5-3 and 3-1 in the lakes.  Spirit Lake travels to Sioux Central on Tuesday.
