Spirit Lake Softball Advances To Regional Final With Win Over Cherokee
Spirit Lake advanced to a Class 3A Region 1 Final on Friday night with a 7-2 win over the Braves of Cherokee. The Indians scored four runs in the second, two in the fifth, and one more for insurance in the sixth. Kelsey Kannenberg was 3-for-3 with a two run homer and three RBIs. Peyton Ahrenstorff was 2-for-4 with a run and two RBIs. Jordyn Hamm was 2-for-3 with a run scored. Kannenberg got the win on the mound. She pitched all seven innings, giving up two runs on six hits. She struck out six and walked three. Spirit Lake is now 27-7. April Mesler was 1-for-3 for the Braves with two RBIs. Kassidy Pingel was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Lindsey Williams took the loss. She pitched all six innings, giving up seven runs on 10 hits. She struck out six and walked one. The Braves season ends at 21-8-1.
