Comments From SL-O Girls Coach Bob O'Hara:

This was another very hard fought win against a talented and experienced Spencer team. This win puts in control of our own destiny as far as winning the Lakes conference dual meet title. Almost every match came down to the wire and I was really proud of the way the girls finished off matches. One player whose matches never seem to come down to the wire is Casie Barba. I can't say enough about her leadership this year. Much of the reason the team is in position to be the conference champions is because of Casie. She's worked so hard this year to attain her high level of play. But more importantly has been so unselfish and is always willing to give her younger teammates advice on how to improve and play their best. Mackenzie Vos played terrific again. I'm really Happy with how Mackenzie keeps improving. Elli Hanson seems to out do herself every time out. Tonight she went against a red hot Morgan Fitzgerald. At one point Fitzgerald was up 8-2. But unfortunately for Fitzgerald she was playing one of the mentally toughest players in the conference. Elli was able to get it to 6-9 but even then had a match point against her that she held off. As Elli came back you could see the spring return to her step and Fitzgerald started missing shots that she was making earlier. At 9-9 I felt that Elli had all the momentum and she closed it out 11-9, quite a remarkable comeback. Sophia Butler has really stepped her game up. I can see an improvement even from a week ago. It's exciting to see these young players playing so hard.
In doubles I felt that Casie and Mackenzie are starting to hit their stride and played their best doubles of the year. Spencer really had a top notch #3 doubles team and Karli and Grace just weren't able to get going. Our #1 doubles team of Izzy and Elli played terrific tennis avenging Friday's loss in a thrilling 11-9 win. They still have some things to improve on but I like the direction that they're heading.

Comments From SL-O Boys Coach Dan Taylor:

The guys played fantastic today. We just saw Spencer a few days ago, and it can be tricky to play and win a meet against the same opponent so close together. But they handled the situation very well. I thought Spencer played good tennis, especially in doubles, but our guys were really hitting some great shots today. They are in great form heading into the Conference Tournament!
