Spirit Lake Boys Basketball Season Ends With Loss At District Final
Saturday night, Spirit Lake hosted Sergeant Bluff-Luton in a Class 3A District 2 Final. Spirit Lake started off the game on a 5-0 run. SB-L called timeout and then went on a 15-0 run and the Indians could never dig out of that hole and lost by a final score of 59-34. The Warriors led 29-15 at halftime and extended the lead to 44-22 after the 3rd quarter. They would go on to win by 25 points. The 34 points scored by Spirit Lake was the lowest scored by the Indians this season. They were led by Alex VanDyke with 14 points. For SB-L, they had balanced scoring as 6 of their players scored at least 7 points and for the game they shot 47%.
Spirit Lake finishes the season with a record of 17-6 and graduate Houston Hawkins, Andrew Seemann, Kyler Vugteveen and JP Walz. Sergeant Bluff-Luton improves to 14-9 and will take on Sioux City Bishop Heelan in a sub state Monday night at Tyson Events Center.
