Spirit Lake Boys Basketball Advance To State!

The Spirit Lake boys defeated Webster City 60-50 in a Class 3A substate Monday February 29th at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake to advance to state! The Indians started off fast with a 21-2 lead after the 1st quarter.  Webster City would respond and outscore Spirit lake 22-6 in the 2nd quarter to trail by only 3 points at halftime.

The Lynx would trim it to 2 points trailing 40-38 after three quarters.  Late in the 4th quarter, it was tied at 50, but Spirit Lake would hit their free throws and close out the game on a 10-0 run to win.  Spirit Lake was 11-13 at the free throw line in the 2nd half and 14-19 for the game.

Spirit Lake was led by Ryan Kriener with 31 points and Billy Brown with 16.  Webster City got 21 points from Alec Fuhs.  The Lynx finish their season with a record of 20-3.  The Indians advance to state with a record of 21-3 and will be the #3 seed in the state tournament.  They will play #6 seeded Cedar Rapids Xavier Tuesday March 8th at 6:35 PM on KUOO.
