Spirit Lake Basketball Takes Two From Estherville

Girls Game

 

The Spirit Lake girls basketball team started off the game on a 11-0 run and led 17-3 after the 1st quarter.  Estherville would respond in the 2nd quarter outscoring Spirit Lake 16-5 to trail by just 3 at 22-19.  In the second half, Spirit Lake found their offense again and outscored ELC 33-20 and snapped a 3 game losing streak by winning 55-39.  The Indians were 15-21 at the free throw line to help seal the win.

Spirit Lake was led by Emma Dau with 15 and Joie Veldman with 11.  They improve to 11-6 and 7-4 in the conference and will travel to Emmetsburg Tuesday on KUOO.  Estherville was led by Morgan White with 14 and Megan Jensen with 13.  They fall to 4-13 and 2-9 in the lakes conference.

 

 

Boys Game

 

Spirit Lake and Estherville traded buckets in the 1st quarter and the Indians led 19-16 after 1.  After that, Spirit Lake outscored Estherville 71-38 the rest of the way in route to a 90-54 victory.  Spirit Lake shot 60% from the floor and all 5 starters reached double figures.

Spirit Lake got 19 from Ryan Kriener, 18 from Billy Brown, 16 from Alex Pringnitz, 14 from Trevor Smith and 10 from Alec Henrickson.  Spirit Lake improves to 14-2.  Estherville got 30 points from Justin Heinrichs as ELC falls to 6-11.
